**While Solid Foundations has always offered virtual therapy as an option, In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic we are seeing clients virtual even more. Telehealth is a wonderful and safe alternative to be seen in the office by your therapist.**

Getting to the therapist’s office shouldn’t be the obstacle that keeps you from getting the help you want!

You’ve considered going to therapy multiple times to help address pressing issues in your life or relationship. But the thought of adding yet another item to your schedule, and another destination to your gps, has consistently stopped you from taking action and making your first therapy appointment.

    Does this sound familiar?

There are a variety of reasons why making an in-person appointment feels daunting or not doable. Maybe you….

    • Have a busy work schedule that doesn’t allow you to leave the office during the day, and a commute that gets you home really late…
    • Struggle to find a reliable babysitter for your kids that would allow you to commit to weekly meetings – or can’t fit a regular sitter into your budget!..
    • Live too far away from our Downers Grove office, making the drive hard to justify…
    • Live in a rural Illinois area, where you can’t find a therapist that meets your needs.

Good news – There is another option!

Telemental health allows you to connect with your therapist online via video chat. Online counseling is a safe, convenient, and effective form of therapy that allows you to meet with your therapist face-to-face and get the help you need – all from the comfort of your own home!

Plus, your location no longer needs to be a barrier for you getting the care you need! With virtual counseling at Solid Foundations, we’re able to see clients from all over the state of Illinois. From the heart of Chicago or its suburbs; to the capital city of Springfield; to Rockford, Peoria, Carbondale and everywhere in between, the expert marriage and family therapists at Solid Foundations can give you or your relationship the attention and help it needs.

Solid Foundations Therapy offers online therapy to any client(s) residing within the state of Illinois who would prefer to meet with their therapist without having to come into the office. This is a great option for anyone who finds it difficult to commit to weekly in-person meetings due to busy schedules, lack of childcare or physical distance.

Our video conferencing services are convenient and easy to use. Your privacy and quality of care is of utmost importance, and you can feel secure knowing all of our telehealth services, including electronic management of client paperwork and video therapy sessions, are HIPAA compliant.

    FAQ about Telehealth Therapy:

Is telehealth as effective as in-person therapy?

YES! The research has shown that clients get the same therapeutic benefits from online therapy as they do from in-person therapy. In fact, some our clients tell us that they prefer having online couples therapy or individual online therapy over in person sessions.

    Does insurance cover Telehealth?

Over the last couple of years more and more insurance companies have began covering telehealth counseling sessions in the same way as they cover in person therapy. *Currently due to the Coronavirus pandemic, ALL insurance providers are required to cover virtual therapy sessions at the same level as in person.*

    How does telehealth work?

As long as you have access to the internet and an electronic device with a camera, you can participate in telehealth appointments. Our electronic meeting platforms (doxy.me or Google Meet) are incredibly user-friendly, easy to use, and allow us to provide HIPAA compliant Telehealth therapy virtually.

Your therapist will send you an appointment link prior to your appointment. A few minutes before your appointment starts, you click on the link to log in. It’s as easy as that! Once you and your therapist are both logged in, therapy proceeds in the same way as an in-person session.

Can multiple people be seen at once even if they aren’t in the same room?

YES! Our software allows multiple people to log in from different rooms and even different locations. Just let your therapist know ahead of time so they can make sure to send all participants the appointment link.

How can I make the most of my session?

Here are a few things we have found helpful in making virtual sessions most effective:

1)Find a well-lit and private space where you won’t be disturbed by anyone. If this is a challenge, talk to your therapist about it! Your success is our priority, and we have found lots of creative ways to help clients to get the space they need.

    2) Put away anything that might distract you from being able to fully focus in your session.

    3) Make sure you have a strong internet connection.

4)Log in a few minutes before your appointment is scheduled to start so you can make any technology adjustments if needed.

You deserve the ability to take action on your mental health, or repair and reclaim your relationship, no matter how full your plate is. If you are looking for individual therapy, couples therapy, or family therapy in Illinois, send us an email or give us a call at 630-633-8532 ext. 1 today.
